How to Make Frozen Fruit Smoothies

Frozen smoothies are a great way to get your fruit for the day—and nourish your body with essential vitamins and minerals. All you need is a blender, some frozen fruit and a liquid base like water, milk or juice.

Try portioning out your fruit in individual baggies or plastic containers in the freezer, so it’s all set to go on demand. Berries, apples, pears or bananas all work really well.

To help ensure you don’t pack too many calories into your smoothie, go easy on high-ticket ingredients like peanut butter, almond butter and honey. A little provides a lot of flavor.

Customize the master smoothie recipe below to suit your individual taste. For an extra healthy boost, try adding 1 teaspoon of flax seeds.

¼ cup Greek yogurt

Tips

If your smoothie is too thick, thin it out with a little more liquid.

If your smoothie is too watery, thicken it up with a little more frozen fruit, Greek yogurt or half a ripe banana.
