8 Inflammation-Busting Nutrition Tips
If you’re living with rheumatoid arthritis or another inflammatory condition, eating certain foods may help control your symptoms and ease pain.
To help reduce inflammation, avoid heavily processed foods, as well as excess sugar, salt and alcohol. At the same time, consider adding the following foods to your diet, which all contain nutrients that can help fight inflammation:
- Certain kinds of fish, including salmon, tuna, sardines and anchovies
- Colorful fruits and vegetables, like blueberries, blackberries, spinach, kale and broccoli
- Nuts and seeds, such as walnuts, pine nuts and almonds
- Beans and legumes
- Olive oil
- Onions (cooked or raw)
- Nightshade vegetables, including eggplant, tomatoes, peppers and potatoes
- Fiber rich foods, including oatmeal
As always, consult your doctor before making any dietary changes.
